Fibre Optic Comes To Burton

Columbia Basin Trust’s Connect the Basin project is bringing fibre optic cable to the houses and properties of Burton and surrounding area. This is a chance to have the fibre cable brought from the road to your home. It is not Internet but rather laying the cable needed to provide fibre speed internet to your property. Public Notice: Connect the Basin Fibre Internet Construction

Construction is underway as part of Connect the Basin, a multi-year initiative led by Columbia Basin Trust to expand high-speed fibre internet to rural homes across the region.

Work is currently taking place in Burton, including East Arrow Park, Makinson and Carrolls Landing, Fauquier and Edgewood and surrounding areas, with additional activity expected in the coming months. The targeted completion for the overall project is March 2027, subject to permitting.

What residents can expect

  • Residents may notice crews working in road rights-of-way and other public areas.
  • Installation methods may vary and can include underground or aerial construction, depending on location.

Information for property owners

  • Eligible households within the project build will receive a mailed information package that includes project details and a consent form.
  • Residents can check eligibility and view the project map online: https://ourtrust.org/ctb
  • Property owner consent is required before any fibre connection is installed on private property. No work will occur without permission.

Once construction is complete, there are several other stages of work before residents will be able to receive service from an internet service provider.
